ne of the many roads that we, as McNair Scholars, travel is the one that involves discovering what graduate school is all about and which program is right for us. We are fortunate to receive a great deal of advice from professionals and other students regarding what to look for when considering our many choices. There are hundreds of programs available and many different aspects of each to consider. In the beginning, the prospect can be quite overwhelming. Some of the important points to consider when choosing a program are:
Program specifics
Faculty interests
Program ranking
Student environment
Admission requirements
Financial costs / available support
Location
There are also many resources available to help guide you in your search. The McNair office has a library of books that are available for loan to Scholars. (See Ms. Cindy for sign-out procedures.) Also, there is a wealth of information available on the web. A very partial list of web sites is included below to give you an idea of what's out there.
